Description:

The range of productions at this theatre is extensive. From pantomime to Shakespear, from Mercury Company productions to travelling productions, from productions in the main theatre to productions in the studio theatre, from conventional seating layouts to theatre in the round, this theatre has it all.

There are also amateur productions, concerts and comedy catered for in this relatively new theatre. Opened in 1972, the theatre has become a cultural centre in Colchester; it even has its own small art gallery, the Digby Gallery.

Accessibilty:

Tickets for disabled people including those who have impaired sight or hearing and the person accompanying them are just £6.00 for Mercury Theatre Company Shows and £9 for all other shows unless otherwise indicated.

The Mercury Theatre and Studio Theatre are accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties. There is accommodation for up to four wheelchair users in the Mercury Theatre and ample spaces in the Studio. Please state that you require a wheelchair space when booking. If you are registered disabled, use a wheelchair or have a disability which would make it difficult for you to evacuate the building in an emergency, it is important that you are accompanied by an able bodied person.
