Description:

The Minories Art Gallery is a professional contemporary art gallery run by the School of Art, Design and Media and is dedicated to our Postgraduate programmes.

A listed Georgian building, the Minories is of local importance within the historic town of Colchester. The Friends of the Minories and Victor Batte-Lay Trust have ensured the building be used to the benefit of the local arts community. This has continued and now ensures Colchester School of Art, Design and Media provide contemporary art and design in one Colchester’s most distinctive buildings.

The gardens, together with the folly within them, provide a delightful setting to appreciate the building and art work.
Our intention is to exhibit works highlighting the work of artists, designers and craftspeople, both local and national, with a particular emphasis on the research, development and creative endeavour explored by our postgraduate students who are based at the Minories.
